New Acceptance, New Release, New Cover Art!

I've got lots of news to share today!

I've got a new book out - the second one in the Pushing the Envelope series. Click on the cover to check it out:

I also have a new acceptance - which is the 6th book in the same series - it will be coming out next February and is called For His Eyes Only.

And, just to complete the hat trick, I also have new cover art to share. Falling Angels is a full length novel and is due to be released sometime in 2012.

The story I'm working on next is an MM Valentine's project for a different publisher than the three I normally work with, so there probably won't be any definate information for quite a while.

Next up after that is another MM - the third book in the Collared series, for Total-e-bound. I might have some news on that one around the end of the month.

P.S. Huge thanks to everyone who commented on my previous blog post - both here and on GR and my new blog.

People Like Me...

As a few people out there may already know, I’m currently working on being more “zen” and stressing out about things a lot less. Serenity, courage, wisdom and all that. The idea is to remember that reviews, schedules and everything else will happen no matter what I do, and I just need to learn to live with it. Mostly, I’m doing okay with my zen-ness, but there are still a few pet hates I have issues with. One of them is the phrase “MM stories are written by straight women, for straight women”, which will probably become clear pretty soon.

A little while ago, my zen-ness completely deserted me. I was reading a random thread on a Goodreads group. I want to be clear from the start, that the group I’m talking about is an awesome group – supportive, welcoming, open hearts and open minds all around. So when I came across a group of comments (from people who identified as both gay and straight) saying that bisexuals don’t exist – that they are either gay and in denial or straight and trying to look cool – I’ll admit my response involved quite a few tears on my part.

The group’s mods stepped in and quickly made it clear that all sexualities would be respected in the group, and did a great job of getting the thread back on to topic. But I still felt as if I’d been physically punched in the face. Bigotry in all its forms has always got to me, but this time it was a bit more personal than most.

I’m a pretty private person by nature. I’ve mentioned on blogs in the past that I’ve had a few health issues – but only after it became clear to me that there was no other way I could explain the decisions I was making regarding my writing.

I’m not an open person. I’m not a natural blogger. But I’m putting those facts to one side today to blurt out in a completely random post that I am bisexual. Since I read those Goodreads posts, it’s felt increasingly important for me to say that.

Is it important for anyone to know that when they read my books? Nope.

Is it important for anyone who has ever read bi-phobic comments on the internet to know they’re not as alone as I felt that night? Maybe it is.

Bi-invisibility isn’t something I’ve thought about a lot until recently. I’m not dating or really looking for anyone at the moment. So, in some ways, I’d filed my own sexuality away as unimportant. I’ve realised now that I was wrong to do that. It makes it seem like I’m ashamed of the fact I don’t care if the person I fall in love with is a man or a woman, and that’s not true.

So, to bring me back to where I started this post…

My particular MM stories, just like the MF, FM, FF or ménage stories I write, are written by a single, female, bisexual submissive. And they are, first and foremost, written for people like me.

Anyone who wants to read them – male/female/gay/straight/(insert whatever you like here) is more than welcome to read them. If you like visiting a world where things tend to be sweet as well as sexy, or cute as well as kinky, then as far as I’m concerned, you are “people like me”. Come on in, you’re more than welcome, and no one is going to check you for labels at the door.

Last year, I pledged the royalties from Gay Friendly to Ty Hafan Children's Hospice.

This year, the royalties from Touching Wood will be going to ALSO Out Youth, based in Florida USA. I'm making the donation as part of the Goodreads M/M Romance Group's fund raising drive.

Stay tuned, I should be back later today with at least one more post!

Coming Soon - With a Kiss

Six months (and 14 interim projects) after I started it, I've finally sent With a Kiss in to my editor at Resplendence Publishing.

It's a 75,000 word MM, BDSM, Paranormal re-write of Sleeping Beauty and it's due to be released on October the 19th.

While it's the 60th project I've subbed, it's also only my second full length novel. I'm both super excited and nervous at the same time!

Here's the blurb:

When Liam Bates volunteered to visit lonely patients at his local hospital, he expected them to be able to talk back when he chatted to them. But, when he’s assigned to visit a comatose man, he soon finds himself spilling out his whole life story in an effort to fill the silence. It’s not long before the peace and comfort he finds in the man’s hospital room becomes Liam’s refuge from an increasingly hostile world.

Vampire Marcus Corrigan has been trapped inside his paralysed body for over three years, unable to communicate with anyone. The chatty young man who visits Marcus quickly captivates him, and Liam’s softly spoken words soon have him determined to rescue the boy from his current life, but, unable to move a muscle, all Marcus can actually do is lay there and listen.

There’s only one thing that can wake up Marcus. There’s only one thing that can save Liam’s sanity. Everything is about to change for them both, and it will change with a kiss.

Please note: This story centres around a relationship that incorporates elements of BDSM. It also includes references to an entirely separate relationship which contains violent and abusive behaviour, perpetrated by a secondary character.

Not Quite September...

Just a quick note to say that my newsletter will be delayed a few days this month. I'm right in the middle of the final pre-submission edit of With a Kiss and I'd really like to get it done before turning my attention to anything else.

Will be back again in a few days - at which time I might actually be ready for September to start!

Charity Project Update

If you were around in July 2010, you might remember that I pledged to give all the royalties I recieve from Gay Friendly, to a really fantastic cause - Ty Hafen Children's Hospice.

I had an unofficial target of £500.

As of the last update I made to the donation site I'm using, readers who've bought Gay Friendly have raised an amazing total of £543.73!

Including gift aid (a way charities in the UK can increase donations via a tax thingy) it comes to £694.42!

Or, if it's converted in to US terms, that's approximatly $1,100!

So, a huge thank you to everyone who bought to book!

You can find out more about the book here.

More about Ty Hafan here.

And see the donations being made here.

Vote Now!

Jack Bowen from Call Me Sir, Boy! has made it through to the semi finals in ARe's Summer's Hottest Hero contest.

In this round, he's up against Victor Jones from Amber Kell's Wooing Master Jones.

If you'd pop across and vote for one of the guys, that would be great! Just click on the banner below :)

In somewhat related news, Harland Rawlings has been pouting ever since he was knocked out by Jack in round 1. Now, Jack is pouting because last month, when I was taking dictation for their answers to this round's question, I let Harland go first and Jack had to come up with something different.

In an effort to convince the guys in my head to get along, here's the answer Harland Rawlings would have given to "What makes a man strong?"

Some people think strength and dominance are the same thing. They’re wrong. Some of the strongest men I know are submissives. It takes a hell of a lot of mental strength—not to mention a huge dose of courage—to willingly put yourself in another man’s hands and trust him with your mind, your body and maybe even your soul.

Picking yourself up after a bad relationship takes strength too. My subs name is Alastair, his ex-boyfriend was a complete bastard. But, somehow, Alistair still found the strength to let me into his life and try again. I don’t usually do the mushy stuff, but I’ll admit I’m as proud as hell of him. A weaker man would have given up on submission. Alistair didn’t.

As for physical strength—when I’ve got a leather cuff around each of Alastair’s limbs and he’s straining against his bondage, I don’t think anyone could look at him and see anything but strength. He’s all muscle, all determination to be the best sub he can possibly be. Even though he loves being tied up, when he starts squirming with his need to come, it takes some really thick chains to hold him down!

Here's the blurb:

When Darren wins a trip for two to an exclusive holiday resort and invites his work buddy Jamie to share it with him, they are the only two men in the office who know they won’t be enjoying a typical lads weekend away.

Neither of them has any intention of chasing after girls—or even chasing after any guys other than each other. After months of subtle flirtation, Darren and Jamie are finally ready to do a hell of a lot more than stare longingly across the office.

They both know they’re going to get laid, have a laugh and maybe even fall in lust. But neither realises the weekend has other surprises in store for them—perhaps lust won’t be the only thing they fall in. Especially when one of them realises that the other man doesn’t just have swimming trunks in his weekend bag—he’s packing leather.

Free Short Story!

It seems wrong that I should be the only one to get presents, just because it's my birthday. So I thought I would share a new free short story. Don't let the title fool you - it's very much MM.

Moving Miss Probert

Story by Kim Dare
Picture chosen by Chris (Stumbling Over Chaos)

“How much does it cost to rent the two of you for the afternoon, without the truck?”

Tony Davies stared down at the limo’s chauffeur for several long seconds. He’d known this would happen! The paint on their truck was barely even dry, and cars were already pulled up alongside it looking for a cheap threesome.

Turning his head, Tony raised an eyebrow at his boyfriend. If Sid saw his I-told-you-so expression, the submissive carefully ignored it as he stepped closer to the car.

“Sorry, pal,” he said, leaning over to peer into the vehicle. “We’re not in that business. We really are moving men.”

Tony folded his arms across his chest and refused to stare at the way Sid’s jeans stretched invitingly across his arse when he bent over. He was pissed off with his lover. He was going to stay pissed off with him for the foreseeable future. A cute backside wasn’t going to be enough to get Sid out of trouble this time.

“We just happen to be very nice looking moving men,” Sid continued.

Tony rolled his eyes heavenward. Never mix business and pleasure. Never work with the man you love…

If only he had taken that very good advice. Or, if only one of them had been able to get a real job since their respective parents had found them in bed together and thrown them unceremoniously out onto the street. Hell, if only Tony had been thinking with his brain when he agreed to let Sid pick the name of their fledgling moving company and get it painted on the side of the truck!

The chauffeur looked them up and down, apparently not the least bit impressed with the view. Tony relaxed a little. He was obviously straight. There was no way in hell anyone who was even vaguely capable of being attracted to another man could look at Sid and not realise the guy was a walking, talking wet dream.

“The lady I work for, Miss Probert, wishes some furniture to be moved within the confines of her house,” the chauffeur snapped, somehow managing to look down his nose at them even from his seated position. “A truck isn’t necessary, the job merely requires muscle.”

“We’ve got muscle,” Sid promised.

Tony barely held back a sigh as he listened to the chauffeur give Sid the address and the directions. Sid had muscles, true enough—his close fitting vest displayed them to perfection. He also had absolutely no survival instinct and an amazing ability to get himself in trouble given even the slightest opportunity.

As the limo pulled away, Tony craned his neck, trying to catch a glimpse of the passenger in the back of the car through the tinted windows. No hint made it through the darken glass. There could have been a sweet little old lady in there. There could just as easily have been a psychopath.

“Didn’t I tell you everything would work out?” Sid asked, as he turned back to face him.

Tony once more raised an eyebrow. “You call this working out?”

“We’ve only had the truck five minutes and we’ve got our first job, haven’t we?” Sid said, stepping forward and sliding his arms around Tony’s waist.

Tony glanced down the road after the car. “Yeah, bloody brilliant,” he muttered. If only he’d been able to see into the back of the limo…

He turned his attention back to Sid just in time to catch sight of his submissive’s doleful expression before Sid dropped his gaze.

Mentally cursing himself, Tony unfolded his arms and welcomed his boyfriend closer. “Of course everything will work out,” he agreed.

Sid didn’t look up. Stroking the long blond strands of hair back from Sid’s face, Tony dipped his head and tried to catch his eye.

“I can go on my own if you—”

Tony covered Sid’s mouth with his hand. “Like hell you will!” He had a hard enough time keeping his lover safe when they were glued to each other’s sides!

Sid glanced up at him through his lashes.

“We’ll both go. And it’ll be fine,” Tony said. “And when we get home we can pay our rent.”

Sid nodded, making no move to escape from behind the silencing hand until Tony chose to move it aside of his own volition.

“I’d like that,” Sid was finally able to whisper.

Tony nodded, he’d like it too. If only because he would finally be able to stop their landlord eyeing up Sid and dropping hints about other ways rent could be paid.

Sid tentatively tilted back his head, obviously looking for a kiss. He might have only been a few months younger than Tony’s own nineteen years, but when he looked up at him like that, Sid seemed so very young.

Tony couldn’t help but wrap his arms a little more securely around the smaller man. Pulling him closer, he slid his fingers into his lover’s hair and held his head at exactly the right angle to receive that kiss.

Sid whimpered his pleasure as Tony took instant and complete possession of his mouth, thrusting his tongue past the other man’s lips and demanding Sid follow his lead.

For a moment, Tony let everything seep out of his mind except the feel of his lover’s lips moulding against his and Sid’s body pressing enthusiastically along his own more muscular frame.

All too soon, Tony had to force himself to pull away. He had responsibilities now. A dominant was responsible for his submissive’s fate. It was his job to keep a roof over their heads and food in their stomachs. Tony took a deep breath. He was going to get them through this.

When he met Sid’s eyes once more, the deep blue gaze was full of worry. That couldn’t be allowed to go on unchecked. “As soon as we finish this job, we’re going straight home. I’m going to tie you to the bed and keep you there all night,” he informed the other man. “You’re going to be completely helpless.”

“Promise?” Sid asked.

Tony somehow managed to keep his expression serious. “If you’re very, very good, you might even get a spanking.”

Sid nodded enthusiastically.

“Maybe I’ll even gag you…” Tony mused. “If only to stop you getting us into even more trouble than you usually do…”

Sid opened his mouth, feigned shock flooding his eyes as he tried to look innocent.

“You’re not that good an actor,” Tony said, taking a step back.

“I’m a great actor,” Sid protested. “You’re just saying that because you don’t like the idea of videos of us having sex going up on the internet. Seriously, we could make a mint without moving a single box of other people’s junk one inch.”

Tony swatted Sid’s backside as he turned him around and gave him a gentle shove in the right direction. “In the truck now!”

Tossing his head back as he laughed, Sid skirted around the front of the truck and easily jumped up into the passenger side. “You’d look great on camera.”

“I swear, if you don’t quit with that idea, I’m going to start carrying a ball gag in my back pocket so I’ll always have one ready for when you—”

Sid frowned slightly. “Wouldn’t sitting down be painful if—?”

“Not as painful as you’re going to find sitting by tonight…”

Sid grinned as Tony slammed the driver’s side door and started the engine.

Tony shook his head. That was the trouble with masochists. It wasn’t easy to threaten a man with a whipping when he inevitably saw it more as a reward than a punishment…

“How old do you reckon this Miss Probert is?” Sidney Jones asked, as he carefully placed a box full of delicate chinaware on the table and pushed his hair back from his face with the back of one very dusty hand.

“No idea,” Tony said, as he joined him in the main entrance hall of the huge old mansion, lugging an even bigger box with him. “Why?”

“I think she must be really old,” Sid said.

Tony set down his box and turned his full attention to Sid for a moment. “Why?”

“Because, it must take someone at least two hundred years to buy all this stuff!”

Tony smiled slightly, just as Sid hoped he might. Even better, his master actually stopped working flat out for a few moments and grabbed his bottle of water from the stash they’d left at their halfway point.

Sid ran his eyes over the piles of boxes that surrounded them. They’d brought it all out of the room where it had been stored, along the upstairs corridor, down the stairs and to this point. Now, all they had to do was move everything up the flight of stairs leading into the other wing of the house and into the various rooms where Miss Probert wanted them re-housed.

Boxes couldn’t hold Sid’s attention for long. Leaning back against the edge of the huge mahogany sideboard they’d hauled down the stairs, Tony looked magnificent. The dark chestnut waves had curled around his head as he worked. His t-shirt clung to his damp skin; his jeans hung low on his hips.

“You doing okay?” Tony suddenly asked.

Sid managed to summon up enough energy to laugh at the question. “Of course I’m okay! I’m not even out of breath.” That didn’t really count as lying to his master, he told himself. His lungs were fine. It’s was just the muscles in the rest of Sid’s body that were quietly sobbing and begging for him to give them a break before they actually broke under the strain.

Tony ran his eyes over him in a quick but no doubt thorough inspection. Sid straightened up a little. There was no way in hell he was going to take a proper break until Tony did. And there was even less chance that he’d leave the job half finished.

“Go on out to the van and catch half an hour, Sid,” Tony ordered. “You’re practically out on your feet. I can get on with moving some of the boxes upstairs until you come back.”

Sid shook his head.

He saw the way Tony’s shoulders tensed at his disobedience, but he pushed forward anyway. “I can think of a much better way for us to get an adrenaline burst.” He stepped forward and stopped directly in front of Tony.

“Oh?” the dominant asked, raising an eyebrow at him.

Sid smiled up at him. He knew that sparkle in Tony’s eye. He was up for it, even if he didn’t want to admit it.

Turning away, Sid made a point of looking in every direction. “We’re all alone,” he observed. “And, by my estimation, it’s been at least a couple of hours since we had sex—that’s practically a lifetime, right…?”

Tony laughed and shook his head at him.

Stepping to the left and leaning over the sideboard right next to him, Sid wiggled his backside in blatant invitation. “This thing is just about the right height…”

“You’re crazy. You know that, don’t you?” Tony asked. But even as those words left his mouth, his hand was already caressing the seat of Sid’s jeans.

“Then I guess you’re lucky that crazy isn’t sexually transmitted, aren’t you? You can screw me without having to worry about it!”

Tony made a growling sound in the back of his throat, as if he were trying desperately to be sensible and resist. He looked around them in every direction as if he suddenly expected someone to leap out. No one appeared. No one had made a single sound since the chauffeur guy had shown them what to do and left them to it.

Sid held his breath. Another silent moment passed as Tony seemed to weigh his options more thoroughly than any man should be able to while his boyfriend was bent over, ready.

A grin spread across Sid’s face as Tony’s hand finally slid around his body and fumbled at his fly. Taking a strong hold on the far edge of the mahogany sideboard, Sid made a pointed effort not to help or hinder. He was just there for his master to do with as he pleased.

The air was cool against his arse as the other man tugged Sid’s jeans down around his knees. No matter how hard he tried to stay still, instinct made him try to shuffle his feet apart in offering, but the denim was as effective as any piece of leather bondage could have been.

Dipping his head toward the table, Sid closed his eyes. Tony would have lube with him. Tony always had lube with him. It was one of those things that a man could always depend upon.

They might have accidently outed themselves as both gay and kinky to their parents. They both might have been thrown out. They might be broke with little more than a van to their name. But in that moment, that was all okay, because no matter what happened, Sid knew his master would always have lube with him.

Right on cue, slicked fingers slid against his hole. He arched his back, eagerly offering his arse to the other man but forced himself not to push back against the offered penetration. Tony was in charge and Sid wasn’t going to mess with that.

“That’s right,” Tony whispered to him as his fingers finally slid inside Sid and began to prepare him in earnest.

It only took a few moments for him to relax around the digits and be as ready as he could ever be. The fingers quickly disappeared to be replaced by the tip of Tony’s cock pressed gently against his hole.

Sid held his breath, struggling not to push back and impale himself on the hard shaft as Tony teased him, rubbing the tip of his erection against his arse but refusing to give them both exactly what they wanted.

“Please,” Sid whispered. He needed the other man inside him. He said the word so softly, it was hard to believe that Tony could have heard him, but someone must have listened to his plea because, just a moment later, Tony thrust forward and buried himself in Sid’s arse to the hilt with one harsh movement.

Sid’s hands clenched frantically around the opposite edge of the sideboard when Tony barely gave him a second to adjust before he pulled back and thrust deep inside him once more.

The dominant’s hands moved possessively over Sid’s back until one finally settled on his shoulder and the other on his hip. Each took a tight grip on him, demanding he remain in place, as if he would ever want to do anything else!

Pleasure raced through Sid’s body with each thrust his dominant delivered. His prostate sung out each time Tony’s cock kissed it. His own erection rubbed against the cold, hard surface of the antique he was bent over, tempting him to come.

No! He wasn’t allowed to climax before his master. There was a consistency to that fact that Sid loved. He loved knowing exactly where he was—even if it was a very frustrating place to be.

“Don’t come.”

The order arrived just in time. Sid scrabbled and somehow managed to stop his pleasure peaking as Tony’s hips connected firmly against his buttocks. The other man delivered a final series of hard thrusts and Sid felt his master come inside him.

Sid whimpered in confusion as his master fell still, his breaths coming in gasps. Moments passed and Tony pulled away, leaning over to place a gentle kiss on Sid’s shoulder as he went.

Sid didn’t move. He couldn’t. If he moved he’d come, and he didn’t have permission to do that.

Suddenly, any choice on that particular matter was snatched from Sid’s hands. Tony caught hold of his hips and spun him around. Before Sid had time to come, or even to panic about the fact he was about to come, Tony was down on his knees in front of him.

His lips wrapped around Sid’s cock, taking him to the base in one easy movement. Wet heat surrounded Sid’s shaft and he hoped like hell that counted as permission to come because there was no way in hell he could continue to obey his master’s order right then.

Tossing his head back, Sid grabbed his master’s shoulders as he came, hard and fast, spilling helplessly into the other man’s mouth.

As his eyes fell closed, all Sid could do was watch the pretty fireworks exploding behind his eyelids while pure ecstasy rushed through him. There was no pain, no exhaustion, just perfection. It would have been enough to bring him to his knees if his master hadn’t kept such a strong grip on his hips.

Sid had no idea how much time passed before he was able to open his eyes but, when he did, Tony was smiling up at him as if he was the most perfect thing in the world.

“Best if you don’t come over other people’s furniture, love,” Tony mentioned, almost casually.

Sid nodded, willing to agree with pretty much anything right then.

Tony chuckled as he pulled himself to his feet and straightened all their clothes.

“We still have work to do, sweetheart,” Tony reminded him, with obvious regret, as he pulled himself to his feet.

Sid smiled slightly. He didn’t mind working hard. It was worth having to scrape and fight to get by without their families support, and not just for the hot sex.

Two hours later, Sid grinned with pure relief as Tony placed the last box on the top of the pile in the last room to be filled. Done!

Leaving the west wing of the house, they retraced their steps to the main hall. They’d barely been in there a second before someone cleared their throat. Sid looked over his shoulder just in time to see the chauffeur make his way down from the upstairs landing.

The moment he reached them, the guy handed Tony an envelope. “Your payment.”

“Thanks,” Tony said, slipping it into his pocket as if it were no big deal, as if it wasn’t the whole damn world to them.

“Miss Probert also instructed me to inform you that you had earned an extra gratuity by, in her words, providing an old lady with a rather interesting view during a very well deserved mid-afternoon break.”

Sid didn’t look in Tony’s direction. He didn’t trust himself.

The butler-chauffeur-whatever he was, kept going, his expression still completely sober. “She also asked me to tell you that she will be recommending your skills, and she stressed that she was speaking about your moving skills at this point, to all her friends. Unless I’m very much mistaken, the success of your business has just been assured.” Handing another envelope to Tony, the guy turned on his heel and walked away without giving either of them a chance to say a word in reply.

“On a scale of one to ten, how pissed off with me are you right now?” Sid murmured, as the other man disappeared from view

When Tony didn’t respond, Sid had no choice but to risk a brief glance in his master’s direction.

Tony was doubled up, his hand covering his face.

“Are you…laughing?” Sid asked, cautiously.

Tony looked up, his eyes sparkling with mirth. “I’ve spent the last three months busting my arse, trying to take care of you and make sure I keep our heads above water so you don’t end up selling sex tapes of us over the internet…” the words faded into more laughter.

Sid nibbled gently on his lower lip. He wasn’t sure what the exact symptoms of hysteria were, or what he was supposed to do if his master was exhibiting them.

Tony slowly straightened up and made an obvious effort to bring himself back under his own control. “And we end up doing an X-rated floor show for some unsuspecting little old lady,” he finished. “Priceless…”

He looped his hand around Sid’s shoulders and quickly led him out of the house.

“Do you think she meant it about recommending us to all her friends?” Sid asked, cautiously.

Tony shrugged. “Who knows?” He looked down at the envelope in his hands. It obviously contained a lot more money than the first envelope—probably even enough cash to set them properly on their feet.

Just then, a horrible thought occurred to Sid. His oh-so-moral boyfriend hadn’t pocketed that money along with the first lot. “You’re not going to insist we give the money back, are you?”

Tony shook his head. “No. But I am going to insist we use a bit of this money to change the name you put on the side of the damn truck!”

When I was 27 I...

It's come around to that time of year when I tend to stop and take stock (regardless of if I want to or not!).

Even though I feel a bit useless in general at the moment, looking back it has apparently been a far busier and more productive year than I realised, so I thought I'd share.

Here's my list of the things, big and small, I've done in the last 12 months.

*Takes a deep breath*

When I was 27 I...

* Published 20 e-books of various lengths

* Bought a house

* Went gluten free

* Did four of the cross stitch sayings that I’d been meaning to do for ages. (This was the first one I did, and the only one I remembered to take a photo of!)

* Published my 50th e-book in total

* Worked with two new publishers (All Romance E-books direct and Amber Allure if you’re wondering)

* Made writing my only source of income

* Finally gave a doctor a piece of my mind (and threatened to break my leg if he didn’t give me better pain meds—it worked!)

* Published my first full length novel

* Had my first ever dealings with the police (No, it didn’t involve me getting arrested. And no, they weren’t anything like the Rawlings Men! LOL. But they were very nice and made the whole thing as pleasant as possible.)

* Finished four e-book series

* And promptly started another four e-book series

* Stopped pencilling in stories I hadn’t written, and went deadline-less

* Developed a fascination with artificial flowers

* Became the fifth bestselling author at ARe for 2010

* Decorated, furnished and finished 2 rooms in the new house (only 6 more left to do!)

* Got my name on a T-shirt (and a mug, and a teddy bear)

* Discovered that, yes, BDSM written protocols really are something I feel so strongly about I will (politely) walk away from the possibility of a contract with a publisher about it.

* Started eating rice in a form other than rice pudding

* Discovered that my chest pains were nothing to do with a heart attack

* Broke in a new pretty purple lap top

* Reduced my list of “started but unfinished stories” from 52 to 46

* Learned how to crochet flower shapes

* Did my first solo author chat

* Wrote just over 431,000 words

* Bought my first antique

* Finished two crochet blankets and started two more

* And, I Finally finished a quilt I started several years ago - it's double sided, 17 by 17, 6 inch squares and each one is a different fabric. (This one is all machine done, using a technique which I made up on the go - it seemed like a good idea at the time, lol)

And that's it!

Tomorrow, I guess I'll make a start on what I want to get done when I'm 28 :)

Vote Now!

The second round of ARe's Summer's Hottest Hero competition is now up and running!

Two of my heros faced off against each other in the first round - Jack Bowen from Call Me Sir, Boy! won out over Harland Rawlings from Handcuffs and Spreader Bars. Thanks to everyone who voted for either!

In this new round, you'll get to read an excerpt from the books featuring the first kiss between the two main characters.

Jack Bowen is in Pair Two, competing against Alex Holland from Determined Mate by Toni Griffin. So, if you'd like to head over there, read the two excerpts and vote for your favourite, now is the time to do it.

Just click on the pic at the top of the post to go to the voting page. (You'll need to sign in to ARe in order to vote.)

Oh, and if you were wondering what excerpt Harland Rawlings would have provided, you can check it out below :)

Harland let the softening shaft slip from between his lips as he pulled away and rose to his full height before the submissive. Alasdair lifted his gaze with him, allowing Harland to watch the confusion build and chase away the tail ends of his pleasure. A touch of color made it to Alasdair’s cheeks.

“I’m sorry, I—”

“Don’t apologize,” Harland cut in, stroking the blush with his thumb. “I didn’t tell you not to come.”

The submissive’s words were nothing but the aftereffects of his last dominant. As far as Harland was concerned, the sooner they were wiped away the better, and he’d cheerfully be damned if he’d let his lover apologize for doing exactly what he wanted him to do.

“I—” Alasdair began again.

Harland cut him off with a kiss.

Alasdair tried to pull away as their lips met, apparently for no other reason than Harland had just shocked the hell out of him. Harland ignored that. Sliding a hand into the other man’s hair, he simply pulled him back into the kiss.

Running his tongue along the line of the submissive’s firmly closed lips, Harland let him know, very politely, that he wanted access to his mouth. He didn’t ask, though. Asking would have made it sound like he thought there was a possibility Alasdair would deny him something he wanted.

Just as Harland expected, once Alasdair realized what was being demanded, he gave it freely. He quickly parted his lips, willingly allowing Harland’s tongue in to explore.

The submissive gasped as he tasted his come in his lover’s mouth, but he didn’t try to pull back again. He hesitantly returned the kiss, each movement so very cautious, as if he expected to be slapped down for his cheek at any moment.

Harland had only intended it to be a brief kiss, an enjoyable way to shut the guy up, but once he realized how much Alasdair needed it to be so much more than that, it was as impossible for him to pull away as it was for Alasdair to do so. He allowed their lips to linger together for several minutes, his right hand still holding tightly to Alasdair’s hair and the left enthusiastically exploring the submissive’s back, down to his arse.

Finally, when Alasdair’s pulse felt as if it had leveled out and his breaths were almost back to normal, Harland forced himself to pull back and turn his attention to the submissive’s restraints.

Mid Month Update

Hi everyone :)

It's been an interesting month so far!

The good news is that I was the fifth best seller at All Romance E-books in 2010! You can see all the winners here -

The not so good news is that I've had to put my longer books on the back burner until I either aquire more stamina or work out a way to make better use of what I've got.

But, getting back to good news, there will be some new series of mid-length starting in July, to replace those longer books in RP's calendar - I hope to have more details about that by the next newsletter :)

New Cover Art

Hi everyone,

Before He Cheats now has a cover!

The story is M/M, BDSM and due to be published in July.

Here's the blurb:

Rupert’s society friends can call it an open relationship if they want. Leon still calls it cheating—and he’s going to make sure it never happens again.

Leon knows he and Rupert come from completely different worlds, but it never occurred to him that Rupert would consider their relationship to be open unless otherwise stated.

He might not have the money, the experience or the social standing of Rupert’s usual lovers, but Leon’s still determined to fight for what he wants. And what he wants is to make sure he’s exclusive with Rupert before his lover’s “old friend” comes to visit next weekend.

Can he convince a man like Rupert to give up everyone else in favour of one inexperienced graduate student? Can he convince Rupert to make a commitment to him before he cheats? Leon doesn’t know — but he sure as hell is going to try!

Coming sooner than expected!

Handcuffs and Megabytes has just been brought forward and will now be releasing on April 20th!

Here's a quick excerpt:

“What do you think?”

“I think,” Mike Shane said, as he slowly took in the view before him, “that I must have done something really bad in a previous life.” Another sweep of the chaos visible through the glass partition separating the computer crimes task force from the hallway, proved his first analysis of the situation to be correct. “I’m in hell.”

Alasdair Grant chuckled. Mike gave him a dirty look out of the corner of his eye, but that just made the other man laugh all the more.

“I’m not sure what I’m dreading more,” Mike muttered. “Being surrounded by computers all day, or having to deal with all the damn computer geeks!”

“Hey, we’re not all bad!”

Mike looked over his shoulder. Leather. That first detail hit him so hard, it was several seconds before any other facts about the man leaning against the wall a few yards down the corridor registered in his mind.

The guy had to be wearing the tightest pair of leather trousers ever created. He must have melted himself down and bloody well poured himself into them. They clung to him like a first skin, but whatever effort it had taken to squirm and wriggle them on that morning, it had definitely been worth it.

Very slowly, Mike dragged his eyes up the other man’s body, over a tight black vest and brightly tattooed arms, until he reached the bluest pair of eyes he’d ever seen—eyes that, for some reason beyond his comprehension, someone had framed by heavy black lines.

Mike frowned. He pulled back his focus. Other features registered. Spiky black hair. An over abundance of silver jewelry hanging from more piercings than any person should be allowed to inflict on themselves. A heavy silver chain encircled his neck, fastened in place by a padlock. A pair of smiling lips, complete with what looked suspiciously like black tinted lipstick, finished off the look.

Mike’s frown deepened. “What the hell—?”

The goth stepped forward and closed the gap between them, only to completely ignore Mike in favor of extending his hand towards Alasdair. He had tattoos across his knuckles too. Those on his right hand spelt out l-o-s-t.

“It’s great to see you again,” the boy said.

“Hi Carl,” Alasdair said, with a nod.

Mike looked from the perfectly sane looking police officer standing to one side of him, to the vampire wannabe on the other, then back again. “You know him?”

Alasdair grinned. “Mike Shane, meet Carl Rawlings.”

Mike looked the other man up and down once more before focusing in on his face. He had the Rawlings build, strong and broad shouldered. If someone took the trouble to peer past the window dressing, perhaps there was some sort of facial family resemblance to all the other Rawlings men he knew, too. “You’re a cop?” he demanded incredulously.

Carl’s lips twisted into a smile. A hint of perfect white teeth appeared between the black lips. His eyes danced with humor. “What’s wrong, Mike? Never met a computer geek before?”

Carl stepped past him, showing off just how fantastic his arse looked encased in those trousers. Halfway down the corridor, he stopped and looked over his shoulder. He winked before disappearing into a side room. Mike stared after him, half in bemusement, half in something approaching horror. Suddenly he felt very, very old.

The guy couldn’t have been more than twenty-five at the most. That gave Mike a good twenty year head start on him. And he was dressed up like he was heading for a costume party. And the Rawlings guys had always struck him as being far more trouble than any man could ever be worth. And it was guys like Carl who gave men who wore leather a bad name and…

And Mike’s cock didn’t give a damn about any of that.

He continued to glare down the corridor after the guy.

And the silver chain that had been hanging around Carl’s neck could well be a collar. Even if Mike’s cock didn’t care about that, the rest of him bloody well did.

“Earth to Mike Shane. Are you receiving?”

Suddenly, his view along the hallway was rudely interrupted by Alasdair’s hand waving up and down in front of his face.

Mike spun around the face him. “What?”

“We’re up,” Alasdair said, nodding toward the office door at the other end of the corridor.

Mike’s frown deepened as brain cells fired back into life. Office. Assignments. Bloody annoying order to work with the computer crimes task force. “Yeah, right,” he muttered.

Following Alasdair into the office of the chief inspector in charge of the unit, Mike sat down in one of the seats facing the desk and dutifully looked as if he was paying attention. Meanwhile, his mind replayed every moment he’d spent with Carl Rawlings in the corridor.

It really had looked like a collar, but it was never possible to tell what was what with the gothic ones. It was all fashion and no substance with them. Any real dominant would have to be a fool to get involved with a boy like that. And Carl was little more than a boy in the non-kinky sense of the word too.

Mike held back a sigh as the chief inspector droned on about modern policing and the wonderful technological innovations that were going to drag the force kicking and screaming into the new decade. Mike had no intention of being dragged anywhere. If anyone was stupid enough to try to do it, they were going to quickly find out that he wasn’t the type to kick and scream. No, as far as he was concerned, dirty tactics and an elbow where it hurt most would be much more appropriate in that particular situation.

Alasdair and the inspector both stood up. Mike did the same. When the inspector held out a hand, Mike shook it. When Alasdair walked out of the office, Mike followed.

“Did you listen to a word he said?” Alasdair asked.

Mike held back a sigh. “Want to give me the highlights?”

Alasdair’s smile turned into a grin. “You’ve got Carl.”

“You’re going to be working with Carl Rawlings for the rest of the day,” Alasdair said. “Apparently, since we’re down here anyway, he’s going to show us the ropes and get us up to date on all the new software he’s developed for…” He trailed off as Mike let out a string of curses only to speak up again when Mike ran out of breath. “If you’re very nice to him he might show you all his piercings and get you up to date on his latest tattoos as well.”

Mike glared at him.

Alasdair had really come out of his shell since he started dating Harland Rawlings. Right then, Mike was pretty sure he preferred Alasdair in his shell.

“He’s in the third office on the left,” the other man informed him, humor still dancing in his voice.

“What about you?” Mike demanded.

“I get that particular pleasure later in the week. He’s all yours today.”

“Thanks,” Mike muttered, turning on his heel.

“And Mike?” Alasdair called after him.

Mike turned and glared back along the corridor. “What?”

“He’s bi.”

Not able to think of any answer that was either polite or which would be able to conceal how grateful at least part of him was to receive that particular bit of information, Mike said nothing as he pushed open the third door on his left and stormed inside.

Mike had barely gone two paces before he had to stop short. It was either that or stride straight into Carl. Big blue eyes blinked up at him as they opened very wide with shock but, even as Mike watched, the expression in them became more and more amused.

“Careful, sergeant. The room’s really not designed for stomping about in.”

Mike dragged his attention away from the other man’s eyes and looked around the…office seemed to be too big a word for it.

“What is this, a bloody broom cupboard?” Mike demanded.

“It’s not much, but its home,” Carl said with a lopsided little smile. He wasn’t stepping back. Hell, there wasn’t actually room for him to step back without crashing into one of the dozens of pieces of computer equipment that had been crammed in there.

“We’re both supposed to work in here?” Mike said, not quite able to conceal his dismay.

Carl chuckled. “I don’t mind being cozy if you don’t.”

“Well, I bloody well do!” Mike snapped.

Carl shrugged. “Suit yourself. But being pissy about it won’t actually make the room any bigger.” He retreated half a step and sat down in a luxurious high backed office chair. Spinning it around, he turned his attention to one of the computer screens as if Mike wasn’t even there. The little brat!

Mike slammed the door and glared around the cramped little space. There was only one other chair in there—a clapped out little thing that looked like it might well break if anyone Mike’s size were to try to sit on it.

“I don’t do intimidated.”

Mike frowned at the spikes of black hair just visible over the back of Carl’s chair. “What?”

“If you think looming around like that is going to make me feel intimidated, don’t bother. You’re really not that scary, and you’re sure as hell not getting my chair. You can stay standing for all I care.”

Mike absentmindedly cracked his knuckles as he lowered himself cautiously into the other chair. He wasn’t going to rise to the bait. He wasn’t going to stoop to the other man’s level either. Folding his arms across his chest he leaned back in the chair and silently counted to ten, then to twenty. He’d almost reached fifty and hadn’t succeeded in reigning in his annoyance in the slightest by the time Carl spoke.

“So, exactly how much of a Neanderthal are you?”

Mike glowered at him.

Carl grinned back. A little flash of metal in his mouth hinted that there was a piercing through his tongue. It was damn near impossible for Mike not to wonder where else he might be pierced, or how that particular piercing might feel against his cock.

“Come on, you can tell me,” the younger man coaxed, as he leaned forward in his chair. “Have you ever done anything more complicated than play solitaire on a computer, or should I be starting all the way back with how to switch the scary machine on?”

“You can start,” Mike said, unconsciously echoing his pose and bringing their faces within an inch of touching. “By learning some damn manners.”

Carl wrinkled his nose. “That doesn’t sound like much fun. Any other ideas about what we could do to pass the time?” He leaned forward another fraction. The silver chain around his neck caught the light as it swayed away from his skin.

Mike tensed, but he didn’t pull away. “Don’t you need someone’s permission before you start making offers like that?” he snapped.

Carl blinked at him. “I don’t think the chief inspector really needs to know what we get up to on our coffee breaks.”

Mike’s fingers caught hold of the silver chain. Twisting it, he tightened the links around Carl’s throat and pulled the boy to the edge of his seat. “Don’t play games with me. I don’t have the patience for any of that bull. In the world I come from, a mark like this means something. Do you have a master or not?”

Carl’s eyes opened very wide, showing off his eyeliner to perfection.

Mike’s knuckles were pressed tightly against the boy’s wind pipe. He felt the movement of the younger man’s Adam’s apple as Carl swallowed. Still, he had to give the guy credit. Carl held his ground well, all things considered.

“I know what it means to some guys,” Carl said. “But to me, it’s just a bit of silver jewelry.”

Mike let go of the chain and wiped his hands on his trousers, as if it had become something dirty the moment those words hit the air.

“Although, I haven’t ruled out that it could be more than a necklace at some point,” Carl mentioned casually, as he leaned back in his chair.

Mike’s eyes snapped up. Their gazes met. “What?”

“It just so happens that I’ve been doing some online research about the whole leather thing. Seems like it could be fun…”

Mike sat back in his own chair, putting enough distance between them so that he was able to run his eyes up and down the other man’s entire body. The boy was stunning, and he obviously knew it. But that didn’t change certain facts. “You’d be laughed out of any serious leather club in the city if you turned up dressed like that.” He didn’t bother to mention any of the things that all the guys in the club would want to do to him before they threw him out. It wasn’t as if the boy was ever going to actually turn up on the doorstep of one anyway.

Carl didn’t blush. He didn’t squirm in his seat like a nervous little kid. He laughed.

Mike’s frown deepened.

“I’m not talking about some stupid club,” Carl said. “I’m talking about here and now. Anyone with a brain could learn how to use the program I’m supposed to be teaching you about in half an hour and we’ve got the whole day. That gives us a hell of a lot of free time. So, I’ll ask again. Any ideas on how we could pass the time?”

Coming Soon - Handcuffs and Megabytes

Hi everyone,

The new edition to my Rawlings Men series is finished. It's due to be released on May 4th and as you can see, I already have a cover :)

Here's the Blurb:

Mike Shane’s an old fashioned kind of cop. To his mind, police work should be all about pounding the pavements, interrogating suspects and following leads. It should not involve hours spent sitting at a desk staring at a computer screen. When he’s seconded to a computer crimes task force, he’s dreading spending all his time surrounded by computers and computer geeks.

Carl Rawlings is no geek. With a body full of tattoos and piercings, along with a new found interest in anything and everything kinky, he’s not your average cop—or your average computer expert either. Immediately drawn to the other man’s old school style of dominance, he quickly decides that teaching Mike all about the new program he’s developed won’t be so bad after all, but who knows what Mike may teach him in return?
